Why this exists when Azure Advisor is already free
Advisor is good at telling you. The gap it leaves is that somebody still has to go and do it, across every subscription, without breaking anything. That gap is the whole product.
The honest short version
Advisor finds most of what this finds, it is free, and it is already on. If your recommendations are getting actioned, you do not need this.
They usually are not. Acting on one means knowing whether the resource matters, who owns it, and whether deleting it pages someone at 3am. Across forty subscriptions that never reaches the top of anyone's list.
Against the tools you are probably already using
| Azure Advisor | Cost platformsCloudability, Flexera, Finout, Vantage | This agent | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Finds waste | Yes, across most Azure services | Yes, usually across several clouds | Yes, on the services it has checks for |
| Fixes it for you | No. It produces a recommendation and waits | Mostly no. Some route a ticket to whoever owns the resource | Yes, for the checks that have earned it. The rest report only |
| Where it runs | Inside Azure, it is part of the platform | Their cloud. You connect billing and usually a read role | Inside your subscription, on an identity you create |
| Who holds your credentials | Microsoft already does | The vendor holds a role in your tenant | Nobody. There is no credential to hand over |
| Where the findings live | In your tenant | In their platform | In your tenant. A copy of the decisions reaches the portal, and you choose how much detail that copy carries |
| Says what it refused to do | Not applicable, it never acts | Not applicable, it rarely acts | Yes, and which guardrail stopped it |
| Undo | Not applicable | Varies | Recorded before it acts, for every action that has one |
Tools that automate, like Cast AI, Zesty, Turbonomic
These act too, at a scale and breadth this does not match. Large Kubernetes estates or commitment purchasing: go to them, they are the better answer.
The difference is where the software runs. They run in their cloud with a role in yours. This runs in yours, on an identity you made, and leaves alone anything you have not tagged as safe. Narrower on purpose.
What this deliberately does not do
Azure Cost Management and the FinOps toolkit
These are where your cost data comes from, and this agent reads them. It is not an alternative to them, it is the thing that acts on what they show you.
Reservations and savings plans
The biggest single lever in most Azure bills, and this does not pull it. Buying a commitment moves real money on a multi-year term and that is a decision a person should make. Tools that specialise in it are worth using alongside this.
Kubernetes autoscaling and bin-packing
Cluster-level optimisation is a different discipline with its own tools. This does not do it.
Multi-cloud
This is Azure only. If you need one pane across AWS and GCP, you need one of the platforms above, and you can run this underneath it.
The fairest test
Run it in dry run against one non-production subscription. Put its list next to Advisor's. If they agree and you are already working through Advisor's, you have your answer. Costs you an afternoon to find out.
